Summary
This is the first thing i made on my 10w xtool. A fun experiment to see how stuff works and how to use the laser. The image took no time at all to make digitally, and even though it looks like there is a picture of a zuchini with carrot foliage, im very happy with it. The test also made it obvious that a board made of bamboo is not meant for the laser, as the different parts of the bamboo have different densities and therefore it turned out stripy. As soon as i washed it a lot of the soot dissapeared and left it even less contrast-y. Im still seeing it as a win, and i dont hate my cuttingboard. I do wish i had sanded it a bit before i started though, to get rid of the knifemarks. I varied the power and the speed and used three or four passes to get it as dark as it got. But i was experimenting a lot, and didnt write down the numbers. The whole scoring of the board took a bit more than 2 hrs. If anyone has an idea of how to make the black stick, on a foodsafe board without using epoxy or borax id be happy to hear it!
