Summary
I wanted to create a unique gift for my mother for valentines day and for the many women in the world that share the same experience she has gone through. A year ago I got my first tattoo with my mom. I had a smaller tattoo, so I was finished first, when I walked over to my mom, I saw she was getting a tattoo on her chest of a pair of wings and a halo that said a name and a date. I asked who was that for and she told me she had lost a child during her first pregnancy. I was 28 years old and had never heard this. She told me their isn't a day that she didn't think about him and had been wanting to get a tattoo in memory of him all this time but never did. She told me she never even got to see him even though he passed during pregnancy. She asked what the gender was and that was the only answer she got. she asked to see him but they told her they had a process and she would never be able to see him. Till this day she doesn't know what the hospital did with his body. She recently told me that ever since she got the tattoo she has felt more piece in her life. She has kept this silent in her life for so long so i thought of this project as another way to show her love for him and have a sense of pride for people to see. I hope this project helps shed a little light for others out there that have lost a child during pregnancy. Unfortunately she does not have an ultrasound of him so I will have his name in the place people can put their photo.
