Summary

I got a few large orders to fill before December 10, I was going to skip the Thanksgiving contest, but Captain Laser kept me on my toes, I can't let him down. So here, I am just putting my idea down, if I get caught up with my order, I will try to put it in production and make this idea real.
I have a confession to make, I have been avoiding to us XCS for designing because I am so used to using Silhouette Studio, this time I am going to attempt to use nothing but XCS to put my design together.
The XCS Maple leaf shape was the very first thing I cut with my M1, and I use it many times when I was testing my setting, I always use this leaf rather than a square, because I think if this intricate leaf can be cut through without burning, and the setting should be fine. So this design is based on my favorite shape - XCS Maple Leaf".
My idea is to use the maple leaves to make the turkey's tail, together with a few XCS build-in shapes, and see whether I cat put together a turkey, so let's see.....
First Step: Build the Tail
Insert the leaf shape
Cut off the stem by drawing a shape with Vector Tool around the stem
Select both shapes, with "Subtract" under Combine, and cut off the stem
Rotate the leaf straight up, this will be the center feather of the tail
With the "Circular Array" to build a circle shape with the leaf
Took me a few tries to get the shape and the spacing to the way I like
I then delete a few of them to get the shape I prefer
After that. l group them and make 2 extra copies and overlap them to create a layered effect of the feathers, since XCS, does not support the full spectrum of color yet, I utilized the scoring, engraving, and cutting to color the different layers, so you can get a better glimpse of the tail
Now, it's time to create the body of the turkey, I'm thinking of these few shapes, the oblong shape is good for the head, the body, and the eyes, the circle is for the eye ball, the sharp triangle is for the beak, and round tip triangle is for the feet.
Second Step: Build the Eye
Third Step: Build the Head
Fourth Step: Build the Body
Final Step: Put all the pieces together to complete the turkey
I put together a similar one in Silhouette Studio, with the different colors shown here, it better shows up my idea, hope that you like it and inspire you to put together your design with XCS.
