  • Summary

The project involves creating a 20x20 (400-element) grid test array to establish a comprehensive colour gamut on 304 stainless steel. The test piece was 200mm x 200mm and 1.5mm thick. The run takes 1hr and 25 mins using Blue light.

The full parameters of speed v power are shown in the image. Consisting of 400 separate tests they range from 15mm/s to 120mm/s and from 44% power to 64%. Previous tests indicated these ranges would provide the best colour spectrum.

    Material used
    Stainless steel plate. 1.5mm thickness Size: 200mm x 200mm. Type 304
This is standard stainless steel plate, type 304. It is advisable to use at least 1.5mm thickness to minimise heat distortion. Using a standard-size 200mm x 200mm allows the grid-array elements to be a uniform 5mmx5mm.
