    Summary

A basic project with a fun aspect--at least if you are one who likes to play board games.

This is a tray which players of the game "Ticket to Ride" may use to organize their game pieces. The main feature are the three open / recessed areas which hold the train cars. These are numbered so the player knows at a glance exactly how many cars he or she has remaining. There are also a number of slots designed to hold train and route cards.

The project is constructed in two layers, The bottom layer is a generic plain 3mm ply. The top layer is a 3mm premium ply. I used Walnut, but any nicer quality plywood will work fine. Preferably, the top layer will contrast color-wise with the bottom layer.

For both layers, the Basswood and the Walnut (or wood of your choice,) A4 sheets work well, but two copies can be cut from a 12x12 with less waste. You want the top layer to be a contrasting color to the bottom, but not too dark or the printing will be difficult to read. Walnut is almost too dark.
