21 days agoI cut and tried to assemble. It is a bit of a trial and error but that is oke. However, I can only open the box, it will not move to close. any thoughts on this?

2 months agoI was sizing up anyway so I just adjusted the hole thing for 9mm dowels and made a few minor changes. It came together well, and it works great.

3 months agoNot easy to assemble, but the design works with my 3mm wood and a lot of fiddling.

3 months agoCan not be assembled, the designed interface does not match, can not rotate the cover, and I imagined there is a difference, continue to refueling ~

3 months agoTook a while to file/sand the tabs and slots to fit during assembly, but I finally got it done. I also found that rubbing a but of candle wax on all the moving parts helps a lot in the final operation! I added the stars on the top to hide the pin ends. A bit frustrating to assemble, but a fun result! Ooohs and ahhs from friends who've seen it.

3 months agoTL;DR: Great project, nightmare assembly.
Cut using 3mm walnut ply on S1. Cut was great, however, the pins being square is an issue. If made again, I would sand the pins round or use other hardware for assembly. Getting the bottom plate on was an absolute nightmare, took well over an hour. I finally used a rubberband to hold the side pieces in line and a small woodworking mallet with a non-marring head to get it into place. After all of that, it did not want to slide at all and one of the small pins fell out (did not break, just came unglued). In hindsight, CA glue does not have a good hold when put under torsion, regular wood glue would probably work better. Finally got it working well once I put cutting board wax (what I had handy) on the 'petal' parts and worked in back and forth a few times. I would recommend waxing these pieces before assembly. Still needs a little sanding to get rid of a little glue, but otherwise, good to go.

Author 3 months agoThank you for your support~ , The pins are square in the hope that people can make them without screws, but it does make them more difficult to install. This problem really needs to be improved

3 months ago@Crazy InnovationIt's nice that you tried to 'improve' it for people that didn't have hardware! I was testing my only-days-old machine and it's really a great project as long as you know what you're getting into. I will definitely make it again (planning to give as a gift to a friend's son), but I will get hardware for it.

4 months agoI cut this my M1 Ultra, using Oak plywood. Didn't modify anything on the deisgn. Only struggle was getting the bottom plate on, I used a Dremel with a ball bit to widen the holes for the slats and it went together really nice after that. But, yes, much patience is required to assemble. Pretty awesome project, 12 minutes to cut, 40 to assemble. This includes the time futzing with the bottom.

5 months agoIt's a great project and certainly difficult to assemble. I found adjustments to the instructions worked for me, such as holding the blades upside down when inserting them. Yes - patience is needed!

5 months agoI recommend to use screws with conical head, see my image above. Replacing screws is easy ;).

Author 3 months agoLooks really nice! One of the reasons I didn't use screws is because they don't look good. But you did a great job.

5 months agoLooks nice but impossible to execute, it breaks, does not fit correctly and waste of time.
