Summary
Easy little model to burn and put together. I downloaded this from the creator who offers it as a free file. I made adjustments to all of the joints because the were irregular and a sloppy fit. I made them for 3mm basswood that I get from Amazon, that is actually just smaller than 3mm.

2 months agoLooks like a great design but as a beekeeper, I think that’s a wasp or hornet.

10 months agoThis is a cool project. Some CAglue and careful assembly, it turned out great! Be careful with the legs and antennae, they break easy with 3mm basswood. We may make a giant one on my CNC machine :)

a year agoWould like to commend this design, it was very easy to make and assemble, thanks for sharing. Considering the fact that I am new and know know much around designing would like to give 5 out of 5 stars. The only issue which I faced was some of the joints did not fit properly so I had to glue them.... great job and please keep sharing more

a year agoSince I have only 2mm or 4mm available here, I scaled the model down. Now the parts should fit together since I made all the gaps 2mm width. I'll try it and drop another comment when it's done.

a year agoWhat are you downloading on? With most web browsers there will be a menu item to show your downloads.
On Macs and Windows PCs there is a downloads folder in your user folder. That is normally the default unless you have changed it.
If you’re on an iPad or iPhone, the file will be in the Files app.

a year ago@artistryI also find that when I click on the link, it opens in a new browser window.
One way to choose where a file goes is to right click on the file name and choose ‘save file as…’, then put it where you want

a year agoBee-autiful! Thanks for sharing. I cut this on an S1 by moving some of the pieces on the top and rotating them to the right side in Xtool Creative Space. That let me cut all the files from a 12x12 with lots of room to spare.

a year agoThe Caliper I have measures 2.8mm to 2.82mm wood thickness. I wish this wasp stayed together without glue since this is an impressive 3D cut. The wings are the best part of the design. I will be updating this file to account for the kerf of the D1 Pro.
